Robert Shearman has written four collections of short stories, Tiny Deaths, Love Songs for the Shy and Cynical, Everyone’s Just So So Special and Remember Why You Fear Me. Between them they have won the World Fantasy Award, the British Fantasy Award, the Edge Hill Reader’s Prize, and the Shirley Jackson Award.
He has been writer in residence at the Northcott Theatre in Exeter and at Edinburgh Napier University. His short stories and plays have been regularly performed on BBC Radio, and the fourth of his Sony award winning interactive series The Chain Gang is currently being broadcast. His work for theatre has won the Sunday Times Playwriting Award, the World Drama Trust Award, the Sophie Winter Memorial Prize and the Guinness Award for Ingenuity in association with the Royal National Theatre. He’s probably best known for his work on Doctor Who, bringing the Daleks back to TV screens in the 2005 revival.
